The Festival’s Origin: A Cultural Revolution Unveiled
In 1974, a group of young Karbi individuals sparked a cultural revolution by organizing the first-ever Youth Festival in Diphu’s headquarters. This pioneering event marked the beginning of a wave of cultural vigor among the Karbi youth, paving the way for what would become the iconic Karbi Youth Festival. From its humble beginnings, the festival has evolved into a prominent celebration of Karbi Anglong’s history, culture, and traditions.
50 Years of Cultural Extravaganza: What to Expect
The Karbi Youth Festival, held at the Karbi Peoples’ Hall in Taralangso, Diphu, has become a platform for young talents to shine, instilling pride and a sense of belonging in their roots. Over the years, it has grown into a cherished tradition that honors the past while paving the way for a brighter future.
This annual week-long festival attracts not only a diverse audience from the Karbi Hills but also visitors from all corners of India and beyond. Its mission, since inception, has been to promote and share the culture and heritage of all people of Karbi descent with the global community.

This parent organizing body laid the foundation for organizing the festival systematically, transitioning the responsibility from a few enthusiastic youths to a dedicated body representing the Karbi people.
