When in Ayodhya, Opt for Electric Buses: Mobility Companies Swiftly Introduce Electric Vehicles

On January 22, 2024, India witnessed a momentous occasion that held great significance for millions of its citizens. It marked the auspicious grand opening of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a moment that many believed symbolized the return of Lord Ram to his sacred home.

What’s particularly interesting is that in the days leading up to this momentous occasion, a significant number of announcements revolved around the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) across various segments, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable mode of transportation for the masses.

In the realm of mass mobility, GreenCell Mobility emerged as a key player, unveiling its plan to deploy a fleet of 150 intra-city electric buses in Ayodhya to cater to the needs of the devoted pilgrims. These electric buses are set to play a pivotal role in providing intra-city transportation services to an estimated 2 million devotees during the period spanning from mid-January to the end of February. This duration, encompassing the day of the consecration ceremony and the surrounding days, holds immense significance for pilgrims and believers alike.

PMI Electro Mobility Solutions, on the other hand, made significant strides in bolstering Ayodhya’s electric bus infrastructure. The company proudly announced the deployment of 153 new e-buses, which, when added to its existing fleet, brought the total count to an impressive 203 e-buses now serving the city. With this expansion, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions aims to facilitate the transportation needs of approximately 3 million individuals who are expected to avail themselves of the e-bus services by March.

In the three-wheeler segment, ETO Motors secured a noteworthy order from the Uttar Pradesh government, signaling its commitment to promoting sustainable transportation in Ayodhya. The order called for the deployment of 500 electric three-wheelers, with a particular focus on catering to the city’s transportation requirements.

The shift towards electric mobility wasn’t limited to local players alone. Uber, a global transportation giant, extended its services to Ayodhya by introducing electric autorickshaws as part of its fleet in this holy city. Furthermore, the company revealed its plans to launch UberGo, its most affordable car product, and Uber Intercity, a fast-growing mobility service, to meet the inter-city travel demands to and from Ayodhya, connecting it with popular destinations within Uttar Pradesh.

In a move that aimed to bolster the EV ecosystem, Tata Power, a leading player in the energy sector, joined forces with the Ayodhya Development Authority. Their strategic partnership entailed the establishment of EV charging points in public parking locations across the city. This initiative not only serves to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles but also promotes sustainable transportation solutions in the sacred and culturally significant city of Ayodhya.

As India celebrated the grand opening of the Ram Mandir, it also witnessed a significant stride towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable mode of transportation. The deployment of electric vehicles and the establishment of EV infrastructure in Ayodhya not only catered to the mobility needs of millions but also aligned with the broader global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable living.
