Mumbai: MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) has become the first corporation to run their buses on Mumbai Trans Harbour Link from February 20, 2024. As a pilot service, two MSRTC Shivneri buses will commence its operations on the Mumbai-Pune route via the MTHL. In addition to this, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is contemplating launching bus services via the MTHL, while the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) is yet to decide on this matter.
About MTHL
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as the “Atal Setu” is a mega infrastructure project in Maharashtra. It connects Mumbai with mainland across the Mumbai Bay, specifically linking Sewri with Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai. The length of the MTHL is 21.8 KM having six lanes. The MTHL was designed to reduce the traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Mumbai and its satellite cities. It will reduce the travel time and help commuters reach their destinations on time. Moreover, there will be seamless transportation of goods and services between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to boost economic development.
