With the aim of providing economical bus services to remote regions, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LaccMI) scheme in the tribal-dominated Nabarangpur district. This significant initiative, launched via video conferencing from Bhubaneswar, is poised to bring immense happiness and joy to every household in the district while revolutionizing the rural transport system.
In his address, Chief Minister Patnaik outlined the transformative impact of LaccMI on rural connectivity. In its inaugural phase, a fleet of 44 buses has been dedicated to connecting all 44 panchayats with the 10 blocks within the district. The comprehensive reach of this initiative aims to bridge transportation gaps, ensuring that even the most remote areas have access to affordable and reliable bus services.
The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of this initiative by highlighting its potential to enhance the overall quality of life for residents in Nabarangpur. He expressed confidence that the deployment of these buses would not only facilitate easier travel for villagers but also play a pivotal role in fostering economic and social development in the region.
An official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) detailed the operational aspects of the scheme. It stated, “A total of 44 buses launched will connect all 44 panchayats with the 10 blocks in the district. The villagers will be able to travel to their block headquarters by paying a fare of just Rs 5.” This nominal fare structure ensures that the transportation services are not only accessible but also affordable for the local population.
In essence, the LaccMI scheme stands as a beacon of progress, symbolizing the government’s commitment to inclusive development and improved accessibility in the remote corners of Odisha. As these buses traverse the picturesque landscapes of Nabarangpur, they carry with them the promise of socio-economic upliftment and a brighter future for the residents of this tribal-dominated district.
