The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is taking significant steps to enhance its services and efficiency. Kerala’s Transport Minister, K.B. Ganesh Kumar, recently announced the development of a new mobile app called ‘Where is my KSRTC,’ aimed at providing real-time tracking of buses, drawing inspiration from the popular ‘Where is my train app.’ This app will offer passengers the convenience of monitoring bus locations and schedules, ensuring a more seamless travel experience.
Additionally, KSRTC has plans to establish a dedicated control room to manage and coordinate the GPS systems installed on its buses. This move aims to further improve the accuracy and reliability of tracking and scheduling for passengers.
To address financial concerns and optimize operations, the corporation is implementing cost-cutting measures, including the reevaluation and adjustment of bus routes to eliminate redundancy. Moreover, a detailed cost accounting system for each bus will be put in place to help mitigate financial losses within the public utility.
In an effort to streamline its internal processes and enhance overall efficiency, KSRTC is working on introducing new software that will consolidate all departments under a single platform. This integration is expected to facilitate smoother communication and cooperation among various sections of the organization.
Minister Ganesh Kumar also highlighted discussions regarding the payment of employees’ salaries in a single installment. The department is actively exploring ways to disburse salaries in one go, which would bring financial relief and convenience to its workforce.
Furthermore, to address tariff-related matters, a committee led by the Additional Transport Commissioner has been established to set appropriate pricing for ambulance services within the state. This move demonstrates KSRTC’s commitment to maintaining fair and transparent pricing for essential services.
Overall, these initiatives reflect KSRTC’s dedication to improving its services, optimizing resources, and enhancing the overall travel experience for the people of Kerala.
