TSRTC announced 6000 Special buses for the Medaram Jatara
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has announced a grand arrangement for the convenience of devotees attending the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, known as the largest tribal fair in Asia. In light of the massive influx of pilgrims expected, TSRTC is set to operate a fleet of 6,000 special buses. The Jatara, a significant tribal festival, will take place from the 21st to the 24th of this month. However, recognizing the early arrivals and the need for extended transportation services, the special buses will be in operation from the 18th to the 25th of this month.
In preparation for this grand event, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Seethakka, accompanied by TSRTC officials, inspected the ongoing preparations under the auspices of TSRTC during the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma fair in Tadwai mandal of Mulugu district. Various aspects, including ticket issuing counters in Tadwai, three bus parking points in Kamaram, a temporary bus stand, the base camp, and 48 queue railings, were scrutinized during the inspection. Following the inspection, a review meeting was held with TSRTC officials at Haritha Hotel in Medaram.
Prior to the official proceedings, the ministers paid their respects to Sammakka and Saralamma and offered special prayers. Notably, the ministers also presented gold as an offering to Sammaka Saralamma.
In recognition of the immense popularity of the Mahalakshmi Scheme, which offers free bus travel for women, the ministers directed RTC officials to ensure that devotees attending the Medaram fair do not encounter any inconveniences. As part of these efforts, a TSRTC base camp will commence operations in Medaram on the 16th of this month. Approximately 14,000 RTC staff members are expected to fulfill their duties during the Medaram fair, and special arrangements for accommodation and meals are being put in place for their comfort.
TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar expressed pride in TSRTC’s extensive preparations for the Medaram fair. He emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a seamless experience for devotees, with an estimated 3 million pilgrims expected to attend. As traditionally, pilgrims from the combined districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Adilabad are expected to converge on Medaram, MD Sajjanar assured that all necessary arrangements would be made at traffic-congested points for the convenience of passengers.
The TSRTC’s involvement in the Medaram Jatara showcases their commitment to providing efficient transportation services for one of the most celebrated events in Telangana, solidifying their reputation as a reliable mode of travel for millions.
