In Bengaluru, KSRTC has been honored with the esteemed National Award for its commendable execution of the state Congress government’s ambitious Yojana Shakti. Conferred by the Scotch Institute of Delhi, KSRTC’s labor welfare initiative has also received recognition. This accolade marks a notable achievement for KSRTC, as it has been bestowed with two national awards by the Scotch Institute. YK Prakash, Deputy Chief Accountant at KSRTC, had the privilege of receiving the Scotch Awards during a distinguished ceremony held at the Constitution Club of India in Delhi. Samir Kochhar, Founder Chairman of Scotch Group, and Gurusharan, Vice Chairman, presented the awards to KSRTC.
The Shakti Yojana stands as a cornerstone scheme of the state Congress government and was a pivotal pledge made during the assembly elections. Under the Shakti Yojana, women are afforded the facility of free travel on all buses across Karnataka, excluding luxury, AC, and sleeper buses. Initiated on June 11, 2023, the Shakti Yojana has facilitated free bus travel for an impressive 151 crore women passengers, amounting to a substantial value of 3,614 crore. Value tickets are issued under the Shakti Yojana, contributing significantly to the revenue of many temples across the state.
Additionally, KSRTC has spearheaded numerous initiatives for the welfare of its employees, including the allocation of one crore rupees for KSRTC personnel and the introduction of a value insurance facility. Established in 1997, the Delhi-based Scotch Institute has been conferring the Scotch Award since 2003, recognizing excellence in governance, finance, technology adoption, and internal growth achieved by various organizations. KSRTC’s outstanding accomplishments and impactful initiatives have earned it two prestigious awards from the Scotch Institute.
Earlier this year, in Bengaluru, KSRTC clinched the prestigious SKOCH National Award-2023 for its pioneering Rs 1 Crore accident relief Sarige Suraksha Insurance Scheme for its staff. This innovative scheme marks a historic milestone in the transportation sector of the country. The SKOCH Group India, an independent think tank industry based in Delhi, established in 1997, instituted the SKOCH awards in 2003 to acknowledge excellence in governance, finance, technology, and inclusive growth. Projects selected for SKOCH awards are based on benchmark performance and outcomes.
