Hyderabad: Daily commuters relying on state-operated buses faced disruptions as a result of reduced bus frequency on city routes on Monday. More than, 1800 buses from various depots in Greater Hyderabad were directed to accommodate the Medaram Jathara, Asia’s largest tribal festival, starting from February 18 to 24, 2024. TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) has deployed 6000 buses specifically for the festival, with 1800 city buses allocated to transport devotees to the fair. Consequently, only 800 buses are available for regular commuting in the Greater Hyderabad zone, causing inconvenience to city residents dependent on RTC buses for daily transportation.
According to RTC officials, there will be slight inconvenience to students and other passengers but there will no shortage of buses. Therefore, TSRTC urges city passengers to cooperate with them as the buses are diverted to Medaram Jathara.
