Telangana: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is stepping up its efforts to incorporate all luxury, air-conditioned, and electric bus services into its dedicated vehicle tracking system network, TSRTC Gamyam. Depot managers have been instructed to expedite the necessary measures for this initiative. Around 2000 TSRTC buses, including air-conditioned and electric models, are scheduled to be introduced gradually this year. While the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation launched an app last year, its functionality was initially limited to electric buses on the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) route. However, attempts to expand the system to cover the entire vehicle fleet did not materialize initially.
Significance of Vehicle Tracking System in Buses
Below you will find some advantages of using vehicle tracking system in buses for passengers.
- Real-time Updates: Vehicle tracking systems provide commuters with real-time updates on the location and estimated arrival time of buses or other forms of transportation. This enables passengers to plan their journeys more efficiently, reducing waiting times and minimising disruptions to their schedules.
- Enhanced Safety: By monitoring the movements of vehicles, tracking systems help improve passenger safety. In case of emergencies or accidents, authorities can quickly locate the vehicle and provide assistance, ensuring the well-being of passengers.
- Improved Reliability: With access to accurate tracking information, commuters can rely on public transportation services more confidently. They can make informed decisions about when to expect buses or other vehicles, reducing uncertainty and making their travel experience more predictable.
- Better Traffic Management: Vehicle tracking systems enable transportation authorities to monitor traffic flow and identify congestion points in real-time. This information can be used to optimise routes, adjust schedules, and implement traffic management strategies to improve overall traffic efficiency and reduce delays for commuters.
