The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has begun the Volvo bus service from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi. The buses were earlier suspended for around eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bus service was resumed for different routes from the state of Delhi to Himachal Pradesh. It came out as relieving news for the travelers stuck in the two states without being able to travel. In total, 25 buses will operate between Delhi and Himachal Pradesh for now.
HPTDC (Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation) Managing Director, Kumad Singh said that the bus service will provide an additional mode of transportation for travelers who want to visit Himachal Pradesh. “Special instructions have also been issued to ensure strict compliance of standards of procedures for Volvo bus services”, she reported.
“The resumption of Himachal to Delhi bus service is a great relief for passengers”, said Rama Nand Thakur, in-charge of HRTC bus services at the Inter-State Bus Terminus in Shimla.
Himachal Pradesh had already started its inter-state travel in a phased manner from August. Due to the closure of travel services, the transportation business incurred heavy losses during the pandemic. To revive the economy, the state has opened its borders for tourism. With Volvo buses on the road, luxury travel services will once again get into the business.
