India, home to various cultures and religions, is a country rich in heritage and traditions. A land of colours, this huge land is a favourite of many tourists from around the country. Among the many places to see here, the Golden triangle tour is undoubtedly the most famous. The Golden Triangle of India consists of three popular cities – Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. All these 3 places have played a significant role in history and are home to some of the country’s most famous monuments.

The Capital City of India – Delhi

Delhi, the administrative capital of India, is a living city where the past and present come together beautifully. Here, you will find people from almost all parts of the country living together.

It is home to Mughal style gardens, forts and tombs that reflect splendid architecture. Here, you will find the India Gate, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Akshardham Temple and more.

For shoppers, Chandni Chowk, Rajouri Garden and Karol Bagh are the places to go. Connaught Place has a colonial vibe, and many popular restaurants and brands have their outlets here.

The famous Jama Masjid of Delhi has a capacity of 25,000 people. One mustn’t miss the regal architecture and the intricate carvings in the marble. You can also visit the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara to experience peace and tranquillity.

Delhi’s Street food is very famous in the country. You have to try the sumptuous paranthas at the ‘Paranthe wali gali’ and the mouth-watering seekh kebabs at Karim’s. Many people visit India Gate at night and eat ice creams while enjoying watching the monument while it’s lit up.

The City of Love – Agra

Agra is a famous city situated in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is home to the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world. Millions of visitors from across the world come to witness this architectural marvel and symbol of love.

The Taj Mahal is the most famous monument from India and owes its popularity to its majestic white marble structure. It stands tall on the right side of the Yamuna river. The best time to see this place is at sunrise, when the view is breathtaking. Inside the Taj Mahal are the Tombs of Shah Jahan and his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

On the way to Agra, tourists can stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal Empire. This place was once home to Emperor Akbar’s wives.

One can conclude their Agra trip by having a king-style dinner at Esphahan Restaurant situated in Oberoi Amarvilas.

The Pink City – Jaipur

The city of Jaipur has been home to many Maharajas and has the aura of royalty around it. One cannot miss the charming Havelis and the stunning palaces. The famous Amer Fort and Hawa Mahal are popular attractions.

The Hawa Mahal has numerous tiny windows from which the royal women used to observe the street activities without stepping out in public themselves. The Hawa Mahal’s design represents the crown of Lord Krishna. The palace has 953 windows. If one is fond of history, the Albert Museum Hall is a good place to spend some time.

For astronomy enthusiasts, the Jantar Mantar is an ideal place to visit. It has special tools related to astronomy and was started by Jai Singh II, one of the Rajput rulers. It is better to hire a tourist guide to understand the various structures and their usage.

Experience the calmness of Jal Mahal or visit the striking white Birla Mandir. Tourists can also head to Ranthambore from Jaipur, which is about 4-hours by road. The Ranthambore National Park is a must-visit, and if one is lucky, they will be able to spot tigers. Tourists can end their Golden Triangle tour here.

The historical monuments, the colourful bazaars and the lip-smacking food make Jaipur an ideal part of the Indian Golden Triangle itinerary.
