Indian Railways (IR) is a statutory agency that operates India’s national railway system and is owned by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It oversees the world’s fourth-largest national railway system, with a total route length of 67,956 kilometres. Indian Railways have recently announced an increase in online ticket booking limit.

To make it easier for passengers, the Indian Railways has decided to increase the maximum number of tickets that may be booked by a user ID that is not linked to Aadhaar from six to twelve every month. The limit for booking the number of tickets per user ID that is linked to Aadhaar has been enhanced to 24 tickets per month from the previous maximum of 12 tickets per month. The user ID must be linked to Aadhaar, and one of the passengers on the ticket must be verifiable using Aadhaar to qualify for this category.

Previously, according to the Ministry of Railways, a user ID that is not Aadhaar-linked can book a maximum of six tickets per month on the IRCTC website/app, and a user ID that is Aadhaar-linked and that one of the passengers in the ticket to be booked is verifiable through Aadhaar could book a maximum of 12 tickets per month.
