Places to Visit in and Around Delhi

Delhi is rich in iconic and historical monuments and popular tourist attractions. There are several such places in Delhi and close to the capital city. Places of interest are spread in all directions from Delhi and Agra, Dehradun, Manali, etc., are some of these famous places. The common Delhi to Manali cab route has plenty of places to visit in and around Delhi.

List of Places to Visit In and Around Delhi

Here are some popular places you can try by booking a cab for rent in Delhi. All of them are within 300 km of the capital. 

Mathura

The holy city of Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is 183 km away from Delhi and on the Delhi-Agra highway. The Mathura Temple is the main attraction here, followed by Govardhan Hill, Birla Mandir, Dwarkadhish temple, etc. This pilgrimage site is ideal for worship and sightseeing around. VIshram Ghat, the riverfront of Yamuna, is another important place in Mathura. This is an easily reachable destination from Delhi for a one-day trip. 

Vrindavan

Vrindavan is another holy place in the Mathura district that is rich in temples, specially dedicated to Lord Krishna. Located on the banks of the Yamuna River, this place is known as the lord’s childhood home. While temples and Ghats are the main attraction here, there also is the Lori Bazaar, where you can buy handicrafts and other items. The distance between Delhi and Vrindavan is 163 km on the way to Agra. Vrindavan comes first on this way, and then comes Mathura. 

Fatehpur Sikri

The planned city by Mughal Emperor Akbar is another best place to visit from Delhi. It is located 250 km away from Delhi towards the Agra route. This historical place, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is worth visiting. You can spend a few hours here. Cabs are available from Delhi for a quick tour. The best to visit here will be the winter season as the palace and its premises in red sandstone can be hot without any trees for shade. 

Jaipur

Delhi-Jaipur-Agra forms the Golden Triangle for tourism. The distance between these cities is less than 300 km, and it is an ideal option for a vacation during a long weekend. The Pink City Jaipur has plenty of palaces and forts to explore. The City Palace museum and other museums hint at the luxurious lives of the past Rajpur Kings. Jim Corbett National Park

The national park is ideal for an adventurous trip from Delhi. The distance between these places is 285 km. A trip here will be enjoyable for the natural beauty and the 5 hr road trip up and down. The road conditions are good so that you can have a great time. Haridwar

The pilgrimage site of Haridwar is just 213 km from the capital city. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Haridwar is more than a pilgrimage site with a trail of temples. The beautiful place offers a peaceful respite on the shore of the mighty Ganges. A road trip to Haridwar will be delightful, with several more places to visit. You can drive here in your vehicle or book a cab for rent in Delhi for a weekend. The journey will be a 4-5 hrs affair. The best time to visit Haridwar is from October to February. 

Sukhna Lake

Sukhna Lake is a popular destination for people going from Delhi to Manali. The lake is located in Chandigarh, about 252 km from the national capital. The lake has a long channel to host the Asian Rowing Championships, and it is a recreational spot with a backdrop of the mountains. The lake is a popular spot for migratory birds. People can go boating on the lake. There is also an amusement park here. The lake is open to the public from 9.30 am to 6 pm. You can comfortably spend an hour or two here. Book a Delhi to Manali cab and get down here for a couple of hours. 

Conclusion

Delhi is located close to several tourist and pilgrimage sites for an overnight or weekend journey. Most of these will be a stark contrast to the busy city. Many tourists who visit the capital can visit these places comfortably in a cab or bus.
